Alzheimer's / Loss of Memory
Description
Alzheimer's (AHLZ-High-Merz) disease is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. As Alzheimer's progresses, individuals may also experience change in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation, as well as dilusion or hallucinations.
Root Causes
There are five theories most believed to contribute to the cause of Alzheimer's disease; however, none of them have been proven. They are:
  • Chemical: The change in the amount of natural chemicals in the brain can cause brain cells to degenerate.
  • Genetic: Several family members can develop the disease.
  • Autoimmune: The body’s immune system may begin to attack its own brain cells.
  • Slow Virus: A virus that cause some of the brain disorders that closely resemble Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Blood Vessel: Defects in blood vessels supplying blood to the brain.
Symptoms
The onset of Alzheimer’s disease is usually very slow and gradual. It seldom occurs before the age 65. Someone with Alzheimer’s disease may:
  • Have problems remembering things
  • Not able to perform routine tasks
  • Have difficulty understanding simple things
  • Seem disoriented

Home Remedies

Therefore patients with Alzheimer's disease must eat a diet which contains antioxidants like vitamin A, vitamin C, green tea and so on.

Precautions
Diet and Vitamins: Your brain is flesh and blood, just like the rest of your body. It requires nutrition, blood flow, energy, and care like any other organ of the body needs.

Exercise: Physical, mental and mind/body exercises are all essential for maintaining a healthy body and a healthy mind.
