A 30-minute run, three to four times a week, trims your waistline, strengthens the cardiovascular system, improves muscle tone and definition and helps foster a positive mental attitude.

Here are the 25 advantages on why you should start running today.

1. Running is the quickest way to cardiovascular fitness. You get fitter faster by running regularly.

2. Running is one of the cheapest forms of exercising. You only need a pair of running shoes and shorts and T-shirt to get started.

3. Running is easy to learn. Most people have run at some point in their life, either competitively or at school/college, so there is no steep learning curve involved.

4. Running makes you feel good, not only physically, but mentally as well.

5. Running is excellent for reducing stress levels. There is nothing better than a run to clear your head and concentrate the mind. Many great ideas have been formulated on training runs.

6. Running is one of the most flexible methods of training around. Wherever you are in the world, it is nearly always possible to get out for a run. You can jog, steady run or sprint depending on how you feel that particular day.

7. Running is good for your heart. It not only strengthens the heart but also reduces the actual resting heart rate.

8. Running is accessible to all. As long as you are physically able, you can go for a run virtually anytime and anywhere. There are no race barriers to running.

9. Running helps you to lose weight and tone muscles. The more your train and run, the more weight you will lose. Also by toning up, you are getting rid of the excess fat and converting it to muscle.

10. Running is for people of all ages. Old or young, everyone can benefit from running.

11. It is good for your sex life! By being more physically active you increase your sex drive.

12. When run training, you can get away with eating chocolate and legitimately say it is part of your training program.

13. Running is a great way to recover from a hangover. A run will help clear your head faster than sitting around feeling terrible.

14. Running is a great safety aid. Being able to run away from people puts you in a much better position if you are chased.

15. You can use running to change other people’s lives. Run for a charity and raise money to help the needy or less able.

16. Running with friends gives you time to catch up on gossip and get fit at the same time.

17. Running is a time-efficient way to get fit and lose weight so you have more free time after exercising to enjoy yourself.

18. Running is a challenge that can be motivational and bring great personal satisfaction.

19. Running is a great way to see a new place if you have limited time available for sightseeing. Just think how much more of a place you can see when running around it compared to walking.

20. Running improves your concentration as you are forced to concentrate more when running. This in turn improves your concentration when you have to focus in other areas of life.

21. You nearly always work better after a run because you are still on a runner’s high and feel ready for anything.

22. Running is a great way to meet people, especially if you join a club or enter a race.

23. There are no monthly subscriptions with running. You just put your running shoes on and go.

24. Endurance built-up through running can be transferred to other sports.

25. If you drink alcohol you can just run a little bit further the next day to work off the extra calories.

According to Ayurveda, sex is a natural biological drive. Any healthy person who is depriving oneself out of sex may throw him or her out of balance, especially in the case of female sexual pleasure. One of the most essential aspects of a healthy life in this age of stress, competition, and busy lives is sex. It is thus essential that both the partners attain maximum pleasure during sex.

Sexual intercourse includes the involvement of all the five senses: sound, sight, smell, touch and taste. According to Ayurveda, love making is an union of body, mind and soul, which also acts as an emotional bond between husband and wife and of course culmination of marriage. Female sexual problems prevent her from experiencing pleasure from sexual activity which play a major role in breakups, divorces and extra marital affairs.

Sexual Problems Faced by Females
Pain during intercourse, Lack of desire, Inability to reach sexual climax, Dryness in vaginal area etc. are some of the sexual problems faced by females

Causes
There are many factors leading to sexual problems in women like medical problems, physical and psychological reasons, lifestyle and diet. Sometimes, with age, it is difficult to achieve sexual arousal. Many a times, a woman has hundreds of other thoughts in her mind like getting up early in the morning, packing lunch for husband and kids, doing laundry , preparing for a board meeting etc. At the end of the day, it is very natural that she is too tired to awaken the sexual creature that lies within.

Ayurvedic Tips for Female Sexual Pleasure

Shatavari
Healing benefits of Shatavari are very effective on the female sexual related problems. Shatavari or Asparagus racemosus helps in reducing or preventing the women’s problems related to menstrual cycles. It also balances the female hormonal system, besides decreasing the inflammation of female sexual organsand increasing libido. This Indian herb also helps in fighting morning sickness, tiredness, in regulating ovulation and also other female problems related to infertility, leucorrhea etc. Women facing the problems of hot flashes should try combination of Shatavari and Kama Duba. The herb Shatavari helps in balancing “Pitta dosha”.

Exercise
According to Ayurveda, an effective way for a woman to enhance her sexual pleasure is by exercising regularly. She should devote at least 1 hour everyday for exercise, jogging, walking etc.

Diet
Women having sexual problems should avoid refined carbohydrates and saturated fats. She should have lean meats, chicken, fish, and a lot of vegetables. She should have more full-fat dairy products. Fresh juice is also very helpful. She should have regular intake of vitamins.

Night Time for Sex
Sex is an integral part of our daily habits (Dinacharya). That is why, Ayurveda recommends two hours after dinner time as the perfect time for intimacy. This is the kapha time.

Vajikarna
This is one of the eight disciplines of Ayurveda. It deals with maintenance of vitality. Vajikarana is the science dealing with the promotion of sexual health. Women seek rejuvenation mainly to retain their youthful beauty and attraction. This can be attained by the concept of Rasayana (rejuvenation).

Chocolate
It is a well accepted fact that chocolate which contains phenethylamine, a nutrient that enhances mood is very helpful in sexual activity. Artichokes, like wine, is also good for ladies. Though chocolates and wine have nothing to do with Ayurveda, yet this is an essential home remedy for increasing sexual pleasure.

Food is very important. All types of food whether solids, semi-solids or liquids in the form of water, milk, juices etc. are referred as Aahar in Ayurveda. Aahar is emphasized in Ayurveda because it is Aahar or food that we eat which plays an important role in maintaining the overall health and well being. The ultimate objective in the science of life is arogya or health. The whole process of digestion in ayurvedic terminology is Aahar Pachan.

All food articles possess their own Rasa (taste), Guna (characteristics), Virya (potency), and Vipaka (post digestion effect) and also Prabhava (impact). We should be very careful with the food we intake. Our diet should be a balanced diet with adequate quantity of calories and nutrients. The calorie and nutrient content varies according to age. For proper digestion or aahar pachan, it is necessary that the right food is consumed at the right time and there should be no intake of incompatible food. When two or more food items having different taste, energy and post digestion effect are taken together, the digestive system can become overloaded, resulting in the production of toxins. Incompatible foods can produce indigestion, putrefaction, fermentation, and gas formation and, if prolonged, can lead to toxemia, and diseases.

1. Do not strain the body in your daily exercise. Remain within 50% of your capacity When you begin to breathe heavily or perspire a lot, then you should stop or slow down.

2. Regularity is the key to success. A quarter of an hour each day is better than five hours once a week.

3. Do your exercise preferably in the mornings between 6 and 10 o’clock.

4. Follow a healthy diet, and support mind and body with Ayurvedic food supplements.

5. Observe the important relaxation and regeneration phase after exercise.

6. Practise Yoga Asanas regularly.

Drinking hot water regularly is a classical Ayurvedic recommendation for balancing Vata and Kapha dosha, strengthening digestive power, and reducing metabolic waste (Ama) that may have accumulated. Boil a sufficient amount of unchlorinated tap water or (still) mineral water in an open saucepan, for at least ten minutes. Keep this water in a thermos flask and take a few sips (or more, if you are thirsty) every half-hour throughout the day. It is the frequency rather than the quantity that is important here. To increase the positive effect you can add 1-2 slices of fresh ginger (or a pinch of ginger powder) to the water when boiling it.
