| Description |
| The term dandruff generally
refers to the condition of the skin wherein
shiny, silvery scales separate from the
scalp and collect amidst the hair. The condition
can become troublesome when the skin gets
infected. |
| Root Causes |
| The main
causes of dandruff are impairment of general
health, development of toxic condition mainly
due to taking of wrong foods, constipation,
and a low vitality due to infectious diseases.
Other factors contributing to this disorder
are emotional tension, harsh shampoos, exposure
to cold and general exhaustion. |
| Symptoms |
- Flakes of skin that ranges from small
and white to large, greasy and yellow.
- Itchy flaking that appears on the
scalp or eyebrows, or around the hairline,
ears or nose.

| Home Remedies |
- Aloe Vera dandruff cures - with aloe
vera gel. About 10-15 minutes before
you wash your hair, rub a lot of aloe
vera gel into your scalp. Leave it on
for 10 minutes, and shampoo your hair
like you regularly do. if you do this
everyday the dandruff will stay away.
- Use lime juice to wash hair.
- Soak 2 tablespoons fenugreek seeds
in water overnight. In the morning grind
into a fine paste. Apply all over scalp
and leave for ½ an hour. Wash
with mild shampoo.
- Mix the olive oil with the almond
oil. Leave it on about 5 mins. After
it starts to burn. Rinse well to clear
dandruff.
- Massage your hair with warm coconut
oil and apply the juice of 2 lemons,
steam your hair and leave the oil on
for about 2 hours. Shampoo with a mild
shampoo. Repeat 2-3 times a week.
- Boil a handful of neem leaves in
4 teacups of water. After cooling and
filtering, use for rinsing hair.

| Precautions |
- Shampoo: Keep a
clean scalp. Use the shampoo regularly.
Let the shampoo remain on the scalp
for five minutes before you rinse thoroughly.
You may use OTC shampoos which contains
active compounds such as seleneuim sulfide,
ketoconazole, tar, zinc pyrithione,
etc. Alternating shampoos after every
wash may be more effective. You have
to use some of these shampoos carefully.
- Avoid Stress: Avoiding
stress may help you fight dandruff.
- Avoid chemical treatments:
Avoid chemical treatment of the hair.
Avoid using hair care products that
are chemically based such as sprays,
pomades, etc.
- Diet: Eat a healthy
and well balanced diet.
