| Description |
| Fever, also
known pyrexia is a febrile response to an underlying
medical condition in the body. Fever is not
always bad. Many times it is the way by which
the body eliminates bacteria and viruses which
cause the underlying conditions. |
| Root Causes |
- An infection or illness.
- Overdressing – infants who are dressed
too warmly or bundled too highly could develop
a fever because they cannot properly regulate
their body temperature.
- Response to a recent vaccination.
- Teething.

- High fever — body temperature of 101 F
(38.3 C) or greater.
- Chills.
- Severe headache.
- Widespread aches and pains.
- Restlessness.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Loss of appetite.
- Sore throat.
- Fatigue.
- A rash of red spots or blotches.

| Home Remedies |
- Easily digestible diet is advised for the
patient.
- Boiled or steamed vegetables.
- Vegetable soup.
- Fruit and fruit juices.
- Small quantities of cow milk can be taken
two to three times a day.
- Khichadi is very good with spices like cumin
seeds, coriander, turmeric, ginger and salt
can be also be added to it.
- Egg plant, bitter gourd and cooked radish
and barley water is good.
- Small amounts of whole grain bread or biscuits
can be taken with milk. Heavy foods that are
difficult to digest like fried foods, fast
foods, meat, chicken, fish, and raw foods
should be completely avoided.
- The patient should take ample rest.

- The best way to prevent the spread of infection
is to wash your hands frequently.
- Keep the home and work environment clean.
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- Do not share cups or utensils, especially
if they are not clean.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and
equipment when working with animals.
- Make sure your immunizations are current
and get the appropriate preventive medication
if traveling to another country.
- During strenuous exercise, stay well hydrated,
wear cool clothing, take frequent breaks,
and cool down after the workout. Avoid use
of alcohol and drugs that can alter behavior
and judgment, and don't prevent a person from
seeking shelter from the heat.
