Graying of hair is not an unusual thing to happen. Aging is often a reason that causes the hair to turn grayish. But premature graying of hair is a condition that demands the need to pay attention to the root cause, Sebum, an oily substance secreted from the sebaceous glands of the scalp and responsible for health, luster and blackness of hair, becomes deficient.

Root Causes
  • Dietic errors.
  • Worries and tension.
  • Lack of certain vitamins in the body.
  • Genetic factors.
  • Unhygienic habits like unclean scalp.
Symptoms
The most common and only symptom is that the hair becomes gray before its usual time.
Home Remedies
  • Curry leaves are extremely useful in preventing premature graying of hair. They give strength to the hair roots. You can consume these leaves in the form of chutney. Or else, put some curry leaves in coconut oil and boil them. This oil serves as an excellent tonic for hair.
  • Take a few pieces of ribbed gourd and dry them in sun. Thereafter, soak in coconut oil and keep for about 3-4 hours. Boil the oil, till a black residue is left. Massage your scalp with it. It will help in restoring the pigment to the hair.
  • Use the butter made from the cow’s milk for massaging the scalp. Do it two times in a week.
  • Amaranth has proved beneficial for hair problems. Take some fresh leaves of Amaranth vegetable and extract the juice. Apply this juice on the hair. It acts as an effective home remedy for retaining the black color of hair. Also, it helps in the hair growth.
Precautions
Excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, meat, and fried, oily, greasy, spicy, sour, and acidic foods can reduce the moisture and nutrients reaching the hair follicles and may lead to premature graying.
