Origin of Herbs
It is found the Deccan Peninsula, extending
to parts of northern and westren India. It is
ocassionally cultivated as a medicinal plant.
Healing Power
Gurmar has been used for the treatment of diabetes.
The leaves are also used for stomach ailments,
constipation, water retention and liver disease.
Studies show that Gurmar lowers blood sugar
and blood fats, and helps repair liver, kidney
and muscle tissue. Gurmar assists the
pancreas in the production of insulin in diabetes.
Gurmar also improves the the ability of insulin
to lower blood sugar in diabetes. This herb
can be excellent substitute for oral blood sugar-lowering
drugs in diabetes.
