Vaastu Shastra
is an ancient mystical science which has all
the rational values to be implemented in the
modern era. Based upon the forces of nature
or the energies prevailing in the environment,
Vaastu Shastra observes the Earth as a large
magnet with two strong magnetic poles - North
Pole and South Pole. The basic sources of energies
in the environment or the 5 elements - Earth,
Water, Air, Fire and Space known as 'Panchmahabhootas'
guided by the magnetic waves that moves uninterruptedly
from North Pole and the South Pole. This theory
is implemented in Vaastu for the construction
of buildings by always designing the southern
part of a building to be at a higher level than
the northern part. This is done to facilitate
the smooth flow of magnetic waves without any
hindrance.
The rationality of Vaastu and its scientific
implementation includes the idea and hypothesis
of architectural expertise for the design and
construction of a building including the placement
of entities in the house and the lifestyle of
the inmates. Vaastu Shastra as a science of
building and architecture makes full utilization
of the energies present in the environment as
a guideline for building houses so as to bring
good health and prosperity to its occupants
and also prolonged life to the structure by
withstanding the forces of nature. Vaastu stresses
on the placement of energy sources in the right
direction.
Though there are energies prevalent in the
atmosphere, the three most significant forces
are Water, Air and Fire. Vaastu Shastra emphasizes
on the placement of these energies in proper
section of the house to create harmony among
the elements. Proper utilization of the elements
of nature bring peace, health, wealth prosperity
and the worldly pleasures. But if one of the
elements is wrongly placed in place of another
element, the energies from the elements are
bound to conflict and create disturbance and
disharmony.
The design structure in Vaastu is based in
three principles either for construction of
building, technique or the entities to be used
and placed in the house. The three principles
are also based on the critical feature of the
structure applicable both for the interiors
and exteriors.
- Bhogadyam: This principle
of Vaastu is based on the concept of usefulness
as well as simple application. It stresses
on the availability of sufficient space for
easy mobility in a house as well as useful
application of an entity with more productivity.
- Ramya: This principle is
an important part of the Vaastu as emphasizes
on the spiritual impact a product or entity
can have on the occupants of a house. It is
believed that things that bring peace, contentment
and evokes a perception of fulfillment are
most suitable to be place or implemented in
a house. This not only brings peace and harmony
the environment or dwelling but also creates
an aura for positive energies which may bring
about prosperity and complete well-being in
life.
- Sukha Darshan: This principle
of Vaastu stresses on the aspect of making
a structure or placement of an entity visually
appealing and aesthetically pleasing; showering
positive impact on the occupants of the house.
Sukha Darshan extends its influence on the
designing of both the interior and the exterior
of a structure. Apart from color schemes which
is an important appealing factor for occupants,
the décor, ornamentation and layout
of the entities also have contributing effect
on the life of persons residing in a house.
