Vaastu Shastra is an ancient mystical science which has all the rational values to be implemented in the modern era. Based upon the forces of nature or the energies prevailing in the environment, Vaastu Shastra observes the Earth as a large magnet with two strong magnetic poles - North Pole and South Pole. The basic sources of energies in the environment or the 5 elements - Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Space known as 'Panchmahabhootas' guided by the magnetic waves that moves uninterruptedly from North Pole and the South Pole. This theory is implemented in Vaastu for the construction of buildings by always designing the southern part of a building to be at a higher level than the northern part. This is done to facilitate the smooth flow of magnetic waves without any hindrance. The rationality of Vaastu and its scientific implementation includes the idea and hypothesis of architectural expertise for the design and construction of a building including the placement of entities in the house and the lifestyle of the inmates. Vaastu Shastra as a science of building and architecture makes full utilization of the energies present in the environment as a guideline for building houses so as to bring good health and prosperity to its occupants and also prolonged life to the structure by withstanding the forces of nature. Vaastu stresses on the placement of energy sources in the right direction. Though there are energies prevalent in the atmosphere, the three most significant forces are Water, Air and Fire. Vaastu Shastra emphasizes on the placement of these energies in proper section of the house to create harmony among the elements. Proper utilization of the elements of nature bring peace, health, wealth prosperity and the worldly pleasures. But if one of the elements is wrongly placed in place of another element, the energies from the elements are bound to conflict and create disturbance and disharmony. The design structure in Vaastu is based in three principles either for construction of building, technique or the entities to be used and placed in the house. The three principles are also based on the critical feature of the structure applicable both for the interiors and exteriors.

Importance of Vastu Shastra: |

Vastu Shastra which is considered a conduit between man and nature is based on the infinite power of the five elements – fire, water, earth, air and space. The residential and commercial spaces constructed nowadays rely on the basic of five elements in all aspects of planning, construction and doing the interiors. The five elements or the panchmahabhootas which are embedded in almost all materials in the world are used by Vastu Shastra to diminish the problems of occupants that might arise in dwelling either home or offices by changes in exterior and interior structural configuration. Vastu Shastra as a science also stresses on the orientation of a building or structure. It emphasizes that the orientation of the building and its design is not only significant for the purpose of energy conservation but also for the purpose of offering a life which brings good health, wealth and prosperity for its occupants. Orientation in Vaastu Shastra refers to the eight directions set as the guiding force, which rules the life and destiny of the occupants who reside in the particular direction of the house. The basic directions according to Vaastu are East, West, North and South. And Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and Northwest are considered to be the conjunction points where the two basic directions meet and such directions are of much significance as they hold the power to execute the powers of both the directions. So Vaastu Shastra is mainly based on the accumulating of strengths diversified by the forces, in co-existence to the Panchmahabhootas or the five Elements. |

| The diversified field of Vaastu Shastra extends from choosing a plot of land to the planning and execution of design, to the construction of the building or structure and finally to the moving of the occupants or Grihapravesh to the new house. Vastu can be used in the micro and macro level depending in which field it is used. While Vaastu has become a backbone for people who construct their abodes with expectations of living a happy and prosperous life, it is also now prominent among developers and constructors which adopt Vaastu for their projects in the development of housing colonies, hotels, and almost all the major residential and commercial properties in India. Even Towns and cities are planned according to Vaastu and it has been seen since ancient times that temples, monuments, town and cities constructed on the parameters of Vaastu Shastra are more flourishing compared to those debarred from it. | ||
